Simon Cowell chose for David Cook to sing Roberta Flack’s ‘The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face’ while he chose Switchfoot’s ‘Dare You to Move’ and the producers picked Aerosmith’s ‘I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing’. American Idol contestant David Archuleta’s dad has been banned backstage or anywhere near where the other Idols are due to his overbearing personality. Now, Archuleta’s team is trying to cover his sorry butt. Unlike the kid’s voice however, it rings a little hollow. People talked to David’s voice coach and a guy from Utah who has been working with David on arrangements for the past 3 years. How many people does this kid need? The voice coach says that the ban is “more of a fairness issue than anything else.” The arranger gives a more ominous so-called defense in “”[Jeff’s] involved. He’s intense. … Sometimes people don’t like that.” Go figure.
Ashlee Simpson will wed Pete Wentz in a secret ceremony on Saturday. Hmm, not so secret if we know about it though, is it?
The ‘Pieces of Me’ singer and the Fall Out Boy rocker – who got engaged last month – have told guests to keep the day free although they have not let anyone know where the nuptials will take place.
A source said: “Proper invites have not been sent out but guests have been given a save the date notice.”
On Friday, close friends and family will join the couple for a rehearsal dinner. The following day, guests ‘will be transported in shuttles to the wedding location”.
Ashlee’s spokesperson has refused to confirm or deny the rumoured nuptials, saying: “This is a private matter. There is nothing to confirm.”
Ashlee and Pete announced their engagement last month, saying: “Yes, we are thrilled to share that we are happily engaged. Thank you for all of your support and well-wishes - it means the world to us.’
It was later reported Ashlee was pregnant with the couple’s first child and are keen to tie the knot before the baby is born. A source said: ‘They’re keeping it quiet because they want to get married first.’
E! News is reporting that Miley Cyrus has found herself a new singing partner in the likes of John Travolta. Kelly Preston, John’s wife, told E! that “Johnny may sing [a duet] with Miley.” When Kelly was asked about Miley’s controversial Vanity Fair photos, she said “We [now] know Miley very well. and she’s a sweetheart. All I know is that I know her personally and she’s a really good girl with a great head on her shoulders.” John and Miley have already teamed up recently to lend their voice talents to an upcoming animated Disney film called ‘Bolt’ which opens in theatres everywhere on November 26.

Hollywood star Liv Tyler and her British rocker husband Royston Langdon have announced their separation, after five years of marriage.
Liv, 30 and Royston, 36, married in the Caribbean in 2003 and have a four-year-old son, Milo, together. The actress’s representative tells: “Liv Tyler and Royston Langdon have confirmed their separation. They remain good friends and devoted parents to their son Milo and are requesting that their family’s privacy be respected at this time.”
Gorgeous Liv prompted speculation of a split when she arrived at the glitzy New York Costume Institute Gala on Monday without a wedding ring.
It has been confirmed, Madonna is going on tour this fall. The Queen of Pop will kick off her ‘Stick & Sweet’ tour in Cardiff, Wales on the 23rd of August and will begin her North American leg of the tour in Rutherford, New Jersey on the 3rd of October. Currently, the end of her tour is listed to be on the 26th of November at the Miami Dolphin Stadium but it is also being noted that additional dates and venues may still be announced. Madonna’s new tour is also set to visit Mexico and South America later this year. Tickets of the first couple of dates on her tour go on sale on May 16th.
OK! magazine is reporting that Jordin Sparks is ready to sparkle once again as she’s officially back in business after her vocal cord injury. The American Idol champ has been forced to sit out opening dates of Alicia Keys’ North American tour due to an acute vocal cord hemorrhage condition. Now, Jordin has recently been seen filming her new promo, supposedly for the next single from her self-titled album, in Los Angeles. She appeared to be in good health and was all smiles during filming. She also told MTV “I’m feeling good… I want to tell my fans: Thank you for all the prayers and your concern. You guys are what keep me going, honestly. But not to worry! I’ll be better in no time!”
David Archuleta could probably cut the cheese and the American Idol judges would still give him a standing ovation. The youngest of the Idol contestants this year was pretty good on Tuesday but really, it was as if the judges were on auto-pilot to drool over him regardless of what he sang. They didn’t do this for Kelly Clarkson, and no offense, but David eats her dust. Idol has their paws on the recording contracts of the winners so it’s now a question on whether this is about talent or if David is more commercial and has a longer shelf life as compared to the others.
Amy Winehouse went shopping at 4am this morning, just hours after being arrested on drugs charges. The singer chatted to photographers as she left her North London home, asking for suggestions for a new tattoo.
Wearing a bandana with her husband’s name written on it, she headed for a nearby petrol station to pick up drinks and magazines and seemed unconcerned about events from earlier in the day.
Amy was arrested yesterday following an appointment at an East London police station over drugs offenses. The charges relate to video footage of the singer allegedly taking crack cocaine in January this year.
Amy, who reportedly sobbed uncontrollably as she was questioned for almost 10 hours, left the police station at 10.30pm last night. She was released on bail to reappear later this month.
Amy’s spokesperson said: “Amy voluntarily attended a London police station today by appointment. She was arrested in order to be interviewed and is cooperating fully with inquiries. The interview relates to a video handed to police earlier this year.”
A Scotland Yard spokesperson added: “Around 1pm yesterday a 24-year-old woman from the Camden area attended a London police station by arrangement and was arrested in connection with the alleged possession of a controlled drug. She remains in custody. This is in connection with an investigation connected to footage passed to the Metropolitan Police on January 22.”
In the video footage reportedly taken at the star’s East London home, the singer also appeared to snort “highly concentrated” powdered ecstasy and cocaine and swallow six Valium pills. Amy’s arrest follows a caution last month for an alleged assault in a pub near her home.
Mariah Carey is ‘over the moon’ about her marriage.
The singer’s friend Andre Leon Talley, the editor of America’s Vogue magazine, revealed the 38-year-old singer is ’so happy’ following her nuptials to rapper Nick Cannon.
He said: ‘She is very happy. I’ve spoken with her and she is superb. She is over the moon. I received an email from her and she is so happy. She really sounds like someone on her honeymoon.’
Andre also said he approved of Nick – who appears in the video for Mariah’s new single ‘Bye Bye’ - adding: ‘I love Nick Cannon for Mariah. For Mariah, this is poetry.’
Meanwhile, Mariah is still scheduled to perform at Time magazine’s ‘Time 100’ party tonight. A source close to the singer said: ‘She hasn’t dropped out yet. As of right now, Mariah is still scheduled to perform, as had been previously arranged before her wedding.’

Lindsay Lohan is set to make an appearance in ‘Ugly Betty’. The actress is reportedly set to appear in the hit US TV show’s season two finale - and bosses are hoping to sign her up for longer.
ABC, who make the show, are keen to persuade Lindsay to film eight episodes for the next series in a bid to boost ratings. Lindsay is the latest high-profile star to make an appearance in the show, which is about fictional fashion magazine Mode.
Victoria Beckham’s appearance as a bridesmaid was a hit last year, while Naomi Campbell has just filmed a cameo. The supermodel appears in a baseball match that sees the staff of Mode magazine take on rivals Elle - and Naomi revealed she learned to play the sport for the role.
She said: “I was given a crash course in playing softball and at one point hit the ball so hard it actually broke in half! “I had a fantastic day on set, the cast and crew were lovely. The coach said he had never seen anyone pick up the game so quickly.”

It looks like Disney is really cracking down on Miley Cyrus after her Vanity Fair scandal as the 15-year old has just been pulled from her first scheduled public appearance. The ‘Hannah Montana’ star was supposed to appear at a media party/red carpet event this past Friday in Orlando along with other Disney stars. The Disney Channel Games, a charity competition involving Disney stars, went ahead without one of their biggest stars Miley. Disney had no further comment about Miley’s withdrawal. She may have gotten a lot of attention with her scandal but with Disney pretty much grounding her, it could put a stop to her rise to stardom. Let’s hope so. Hollywood doesn’t need another slut.

Despite the effort she puts into her outfits, Christina insists that she doesn’t follow fashion, claiming: “Trends don’t particularly interest me.”
The mother-of-one also revealed her high heels can sometimes get her into trouble. She added: “I was doing a dance move and I had to get off a table. Somehow my high heel got stuck in my fishnet tights and I fell flat on the floor. I sat there with a bruised butt and a tear in my pantyhose, shrugged my shoulders and had a good laugh with the audience. It was kind of embarrassing, but, hey, the show must go on.”

This just has Joe Simpson’s, the dad and manager, name all over it. A source says that “Joe knows that no one cared about [Jessica Simpson] before her reality show, and he’s hoping a show for Ashlee will have the same effect.” A record industry insider adds that “She’s been struggling with record sales. Now that she’s really interesting again, a reality show could do wonders for her career. It’s a part of doing business for this family.” When Ashlee’s first reality show ran in 2004 with her first album dropping a month later, her album debuted at #1.

Country sweetheart Taylor Swift attended the Hollywood Life magazine’s 10th Annual Young Hollywood Awards which was held at Avalon on Sunday in Hollywood. The singer received the Superstar of Tomorrow Award at the awards show and she made history by being the first musician to receive this honor. The 18-year old singer performed on Tuesday on ‘Good Morning America’ and can also be seen on the ‘Live with Regis and Kelly’ show on Wednesday. If that’s not enough Taylor for you, she will also be on the cover of Seventeen magazine’s June issue which hits stands on May 6.
Amy Winehouse was arrested after the singer allegedly attacked a man after a night out in North London. The 24-year old ‘Rehab’ singer supposedly head-butted a guy outside a bar early last week after he kindly hailed a cab for the British pop wreck. If Wino gets convicted, she could face up to six months in jail. She was held at Holborn Police Station. I guess she takes after her husband Blake Fielder-Civil who is in prison for charges which stem from a pub brawl. The difference is that Amy actually went to jail by so-called appointment. What that means is that she went in voluntarily.
