The orange Oprah Dina Lohan has struck once again. At least when asked about what daughter Lindsay would do once she’s done with rehab.
In an interview with People magazine, Dina reveals that once Lindsay is done with treatment at the Promises rehab facility later this month, she will enroll in the facility’s extended care program.
The program, according the Promises web site, is made to help people ‘make the transition from residential alcohol or drug rehab treatment back into their community’. It involves a 12-step program and group therapy.
This is a good sign that the troubled celebrity is committed to her recovery this time around. At least we hope.
Celebrity heiress Paris Hilton is to leave jail on Tuesday after almost three-and-a-half weeks behind bars, authorities in California have said.
She was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol last September and was given probation, which she violated several times by driving with a suspended license. The reality TV star was sentenced on 3 June to 45 days in jail for violating probation on a driving ban.
But crowded jail conditions and time off for good behavior will mean that she is released after 24 days.
The 26-year-old was briefly freed on medical grounds earlier this month, but was sent back to jail by a court. Now she will be released on 26 June. Before she was led screaming from court, she was told she would have to serve her full sentence.
Los Angeles County Sheriff Lee Baca, who ordered her release, is due to appear before the county’s board of supervisors, which is investigating the issue, on Tuesday. Mr. Baca, who wanted Hilton to complete her sentence at home, said the heiress was being turned into a “criminal justice football”.
But opponents say she was given preferential treatment because of her status.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department did not say at what time Hilton would be released.
Given that the most positive thing Lauryn Hill’s bandmates are saying about another potential Fugees reunion is “just keep praying,” the chances seem slim that we’ll see the trio of Wyclef Jean, Pras and Hill doing an album together again. The band should quickly decide on whether they wanna sing as a band together or take to music on their own. The club, normally closed on Mondays, planned to open specifically to host the party and the public was going to be invited. “We support Lindsay and wish her the best as she is taking care of personal matters at this time,” says PURE rep Kate Turner. “Due to the unique circumstances, as of (Monday) afternoon Lindsay’s birthday party at PURE Nightclub has been canceled. We think the world of her and look forward to working with her in the future.”

Haven’t we all seen and heard enough about Paris Hilton? Of course we have. But as long as she is plodding day by day through her cushy jail sentence there will be something to report to the gossip mongers. Recently, Hilton spent a week in the medical ward after a series of tests were conducted to determine her mental and physical state of health. Though all the tests in the world may not reveal what really goes on inside the socialite’s head, many people believe she is being wrongly given special treatment.
Considering the temporary release of Hilton, it’s obvious that she isn’t getting middle class treatment. Why should she not be treated like any one of the rest of us? Her name is derived from a hotel chain she herself had nothing to do with and yet she is treated like Hollywood’s spoiled little princess. I’ve seen more than enough of Paris Hilton to last me a life time and if she were to never get out of the big house it would be no harm, no foul in my opinion. Paris’ time sitting safely in confinement will soon be over and we shall then see if the dumb act was just that or a ploy to garner sympathy.
