Billy Crudup is set to take on the role of the nuclear accident-enhanced Dr. Manhattan in the big-screen adaptation of Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons’ iconic 12-part DC Comics series Watchmen, the only graphic novel to ever win the Hugo Award, a top honor in the world of science fiction and fantasy, and the only work of its kind to appear on Time magazine’s list of the 100 best novels since 1923. I’m a bit worried about this. With the exception of “300″,nothing of Alan Moore’s has been given a proper treatment via its transition from print to screen. I wish both Moore and the studios would humble themselves and get together so that “Watchmen” doesn’t turn into another “League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen”. It would hella suck if the most revered and respected graphic novel of all-time were to get a crap treatment from yet another producer that didn’t get the source material. To be honest, I think comic book films should only be handled by filmmakers who are/were comic book fan boys. Period. The X-men
