I cringe at the mere thought but I just have to say it – Simon Cowell was right. Talent-free Sanjaya with his massive affinity with hair may be on the American Idol summer tour but he still can’t sing worth crap.

On the show held in Greenville, South Carolina, Sanjaya sang the classic ‘Life is a Highway’. Well that highway turned into road kill pretty fast. He was running out of breath in mid-performance, forgot most of the words and only shook his head to cover up his mishaps.

Chris Sligh joined him on stage by playing guitar but it was obvious that he wanted nothing to do with the performance. He was on the opposite side of the stage and did not even attempt to sing back up. Smart move.

Just like most of the ladies of Disney, Miley Cyrus has crossed over from the teeny bopper market to mainstream stardom. Her latest album, a soundtrack for her Disney show ‘Hannah Montana’ actually beat out Kelly Clarkson’s latest release ‘My December’. Her first album that came out last fall also went to the top spot.

At 14 years old, she’s the youngest to have achieved having two #1 albums. And it seems like Disney is trying to mold her as the next Hilary Duff, as there are plans of making a feature film out of Miley’s current series.

Let’s all hope that she doesn’t turn out like her predecessors, namely Lindsay Lohan.

Pete Wentz is on tour with his band Fall Out Boy. And with that, his girlfriend Ashlee Simpson has turned into a jet setter just to be with her lover boy.

They celebrated the Fourth of July together and the celebration even lasted throughout the weekend. Pete served as the DJ for the party and went as far as dedicating Justin Timberlake’s ‘Summer Love’ to Ashlee.

When the duo arrived in LA earlier in the week, they were holding hands, kissing and looking completely in love. They may be one of the many odd couples in Hollywood but it looks like they’re going strong.

It came out last week that a 1970s band is taking legal action against Avril Lavigne, claiming that she stole a main piece of her newest song from them. She insists that it’s coincidence and their claim is based only on five words and not worthy of merit. She states that as human beings we all speak the same language and that she has stolen nothing. She is now threatening legal action. She is also threatening legal action against Chantal Kreviazuk because the singer said that Avril stole an idea from her album. She wrote on her website that she has much more to say but was advised against it by her lawyers. I think Avril needs to get down off of her high horse and stop pretending she has some amazing musical gift. If anything Avril has gone in reverse over her career. She was the angsty, opinionated punk on her debut album and has become a sell out pop princess. I can’t take the girl seriously. Let’s see if the Judge does.

Singer/actress Hilary Duff is determined to find love in the music and movie industry because normal men can’t relate to her. Despite failed relationships with teen pop star Aaron Carter and Good Charlotte rocker Joel Madden, the star is adamant she can find her soulmate in the entertainment industry. She says, “The most important thing on my list (for boyfriend requirements) would be that he has to be in the business, so he understands how hard it can be, with the lifestyle, but that he has to have other interests outside of work. If she wants everything to be in a man then she might as well list the strict rules that she would follow so as to allow the men in her life to live a life along side the relationship. The celebrities would as always keep their demands but that would never create a successful relationship. Anyways some idiot would only be foolish enough to read into her demands and then try and start a relationship, I’d rather have free life for myself.

The late Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin was known for his love and passion for animals of all types and sizes. The ugliest and scariest of creatures became something to meet, learn about and maybe even love once it was in his hands. His gift has obviously been passed onto his daughter, Bindi. Her new TV show will soon be off to a start on the Discovery Kids Channel. Jungle Girl will certainly draw in the viewers and especially the kids. It’s really inspiring to see a little girl like this with such a big vision. She was taught by her father about the horrible things that some people do to animals and has made it her mission to teach people about love for animals and conservation. When other young girls are playing with Barbies or graduating to MTV land, she is setting a standard and paving a new path for others to follow. I can’t wait to see where it will lead.

Mandy Moore, the angel-faced actress and sometime singer, interrupted her recent concert in Manhattan to grumble for a moment about the men who did her wrong.

The folk-pop disc, released last month and recorded in New York’s rustic Catskill mountains, is a departure from the bubblegum music of Moore’s not-so-distant past. Produced by John Alagia, who’s shaped albums by Dave Matthews and Liz Phair, its acoustic sound and mature themes of heartbreak and personal growth would be more at home in a coffee shop than on popular radio. And Moore, who has had more success as an actress than she ever did as a singer, is fine with that.

After all, her star continues to rise in film, overshadowing her singing career and forays into fashion design. She currently co-stars with Robin Williams in the new comedy “License to Wed,” and will appear later this summer in the art-house romance “Dedication.” Music, however, remains her biggest passion.

Clay Aiken was involved in an airplane disturbance with another passenger Saturday while en route to Tulsa International Airport, a newspaper reported.

The dispute on a Continental Airlines flight took place between Aiken, who was traveling Saturday morning to a performance at the Brady Theater, and a woman, the Tulsa World reported for Sunday’s editions.

Concert goers who attended the former “American Idol” singer’s show said afterward that Aiken joked on-stage about being beaten up by a girl earlier in the day.

FBI Special Agent Gary Johnson said there was a dispute between a male passenger and a woman on the flight but could not confirm the passenger was Aiken. He said the dispute was over the male passenger’s foot resting on the woman’s armrest. He said there was an allegation the woman gave the male passenger a “minor shove” during the argument.

“At that point the flight crew was able to resolve the situation,” Johnson said.

Tulsa Airport Authority spokeswoman Alexis Higgins said the passengers were held until FBI agents arrived to interview them. No injuries were reported and no arrests were made.

Singer Avril Lavigne is facing legal action by members of 1970s rock band The Rubinoos, who claim she has copied one of their songs.
Songwriters Tommy Dunbar and James Gangwer allege Lavigne’s Girlfriend was lifted from their 1979 song I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend.
Avril Lavigne is married to Deryck Whibley, lead singer of Sum 41 Lavigne’s spokeswoman declined to comment about the allegations.

In a statement, Dunbar said: “We are not so naive as to chalk it up to some sort of cosmic coincidence.”

He added: “The lyric, the metre, the rhythm – they’re identical.”

The case will be heard in Oakland, California, on 28 August.

New wave group The Rubinoos toured and recorded from 1975 to 1983 and had a hit with a cover version of Tommy James and the Shondells’ I Think We’re Alone Now.

They also wrote the theme song for the movie Revenge of the Nerds.

Lavigne, best known for hits such as Complicated and Sk8er Boi, recently scooped the award for favourite Canadian artist at the MuchMusic Video Awards in Toronto.

There was a large turn out of fans for the latest Harry Potter premier in Europe. Swarms of fans camped out over night awaiting a glimpse of their heroine, J.K. Rowling. She spent some time talking to the press who of course asked questions about the final book of the series soon to be published. The whole world seems to be asking if Harry is going to die in the final instalment. The ending is such a big secret that even Rowling’s own family has no idea what will happy to Harry and Co. Rowling said she felt very sad upon ending the beloved series but also very relieved. I must admit that the entire Harry Potter phenomenon was lost on me. I never saw a single film or read a single book and I really do not feel like I’m missing anything. However, millions of people would disagree. There will be a lot more hype over the next year or two until the last book in the series is released but it will surely die out like every other Hollywood madness.

Under the scorching sun of summer, the color you need to stay away from would be black. But Ashlee Simpson proves to be the exception. The younger and hotter of the two Simpson sisters was spotted out and about in Los Angeles wearing all black on Saturday.

Australian pop diva Kylie Minogue will join the cast of British science-fiction TV drama Doctor Who for a special Christmas episode, the BBC said on Tuesday. The hour-long episode, Voyage of the Damned, will start filming in Cardiff, Wales, in July. “It is an incredible thrill to be joining David and the entire Dr Who production for this year’s Christmas special,” said Minogue. “Dr Who enjoys a unique history and it is going to be very exciting to be a part of that.” Former television soap opera star Minogue returned to the stage last November with a sell out concert in Sydney after recovering from breast cancer. She is a really brave woman to have fought breast cancer successfully and then resume her singing career which is one of the most successful singing careers ever by a female artist. Her songs and the music in it has for long mesmerised her fans.

Bag lady Mary Norton was looking for a tag for a new clutch accessory when she saw the “elegant” Legally Blonde star on the red carpet at an awards show.
