It’s been reported that the ratings for this year’s Oscars went up as compared to last year’s. Do you wonder if Zac Efron and Robert Pattinson did something to help give the awards show a major ratings boost? It would seem that way. It turns out that the Oscars got a bit of a spike with ratings among teens aged 12 to 17, going up by 25% from last year. According to Nielsen numbers, even the ratings for children aged 2 to 11 shot up by 33% this year. Apparently, no one can get enough of Zac Efron and Robert Pattinson. And who can blame them?
Three more finalists were revealed to be moving on to the final round of American Idol in the forms of 16-year old Allison Iraheta, 23-year old Kris Allen and 26-year old Adam Lambert. The trio received the most number of votes this week. The judges were pretty satisfied with Adam’s take on the Rolling Stones’ classic ‘Satisfaction’ but they had a mixed reaction to Kris’ performance of Michael Jackson’s ‘Man in the Mirror’. I had no doubt that Allison was going to make it because she definitely blew the roof off with her rendition of Heart’s ‘Alone’. The three finalists will join 28-year old Danny Gokey, 21-year old Alexis Grace and 27-year old Michael Sarver. We’re halfway there!
The actress has recently ended her engagement to Brian Austin Green. Supposedly it was a mutual decision and a source had this to say about it: “The relationship had run its course. It’s completely amicable, and they are remaining friends. They are both focusing on their careers.” This thing with relationships running their course just doesn’t make sense. What does it mean: “Well, I’m bored with you know so let’s just be friends”, or actually being bored with the sex and remaining friends for the sake of the company. Oh well, thank god for their careers at least because their contribution to the entertainment industry must not wane.
Kids could not get enough of the Jonas Brothers so they are once again featured in this year’s Kid’s Choice Awards. The Jonas Brothers won as Favorite Music Group during last year’s Kid’s Choice Award and they are at it again. Aside from performing in the Kid’s Choice Awards in Los Angeles on March 28, they will also compete in the same awards category. Not only that; the Jonas Brothers are also set to participate in the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Jonas Jam Sweepstakes. Of all the awards shows Kid’s Choice rocks because it is all about fun. The Jonas Brothers said it gives them the chance to show their appreciation for their fans, mostly children.
The Jonas Brothers are looking forward to getting slimed once again especially when it means being hugged by Jack Black who was last year’s host. The Jonas Jam Sweepstakes will have two winners who will join the band not only in the famed Orange Carpet but they will also get a four-day trip to Los Angeles, a limo ride, tickets for the show and a $1,000 cash. This year’s Kid’s Choice Awards promises to be fun with a star-studded lineup including High School Musical Superstar Zac Efron, Twilight’s Robert Pattinson, “The Rock” aka Dwayne Johnson, Reese Witherspoon, Amy Poehler, Sexiest Man Alive Hugh Jackman as well s Nickelodeon stars Nat and Alex Wolff and Miranda Cosgrove.

Anne Hathaway was nominated for an Oscar for Best Actress in a Leading Role at this year’s Academy Awards for her role of girl battling drug addiction in the movie Getting Rachael Married but the Oscar went to 5 times nominee and first time winner actress Kate Winslet.
All the same the actress has vowed to keep a far distance from drugs, but her experience does not stem from her movie but from a wild night at college which convinced her illegal substances would swiftly sabotage her career.
She says, “I do terrible things. I just have very discreet friends. I had an experience at college where I was at a party and people were passing cocaine around, and I looked at it and thought, that’s not a horse I can ride, I’m never going to do that. So I passed the tray along and left the room. Being an actress is hard enough without complicating it with drugs.”
Great way to go Anne Hathaway and we love you for that, maybe you can start a no drugs campaign and roll in Amy Winehouse.
Rihanna’s father, Ronald Fenty, is speaking out about the disturbing photo of his daughter taken just moments after she was assaulted by Chris Brown. In an interview, the Barbadian beauty’s dad said “Yeah, I saw it. It’s disturbing.” He also adds that people will now be able to grasp the situation a lot better after having seen the picture. He said “It’s good and it’s bad to see the picture because there’s other people who were thinking differently, that [Rihanna's injuries] may not be that bad, just a little spank or a little thing.” If the photo was taken before the bruises and swelling even had time to fully manifest, I would hate to imagine how badly hurt she looked the days following after.
According to reports, Zac Efron is going to join Hugh Jackman on stage in a song and dance routine directed by Baz Luhrman that promises to shake things up at Sunday night’s Oscars. It is also being said that Beyonce will also be joining in the number, together with ‘Mama Mia’s’ Amanda Seyfried and Dominic Cooper and High School Musical star Vanessa Hudgens. Zac is also slated to present the award for Best Original Song. I don’t know about you but Zac is acting a little too flamboyant these days don’t you think? That song and dance at the Oscars isn’t going to help his case.

The Kodak Center, aptly called the Forbidden City because only the chosen few will be allowed inside for the Oscar night, only has a capacity of 3,300 people. And with about 6,000 members from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science, you bet not even 50% get an Oscars invitation.
The Oscars red carpet is a prestigious event that it is highly used to promote designer brands and other products from fashionable clothes, shoes and jewelries. Celebrities who want to be the center of attention only need to dress his or her best, walk the red carpet and be in the center of the klieg lights. Take for example Heidi Klum who is not even a voting Academy member but made the red carpet during last years Oscars Award where she shined in a dragon and fiery-red gown as Coca Cola’s ambassador of heart awareness. The younger set Miley Cyrus of Hannah Montana (last year’s presenter), Zack Efron of High School Musical and Robert Pattinson of Twilight had the chance to be invited as presenters.

Nick Jonas is finally speaking out about his dating life. Unfortunately, he spoke out about being single which means that he and the talented Selena Gomez are over. When asked by a fan on ‘The Insider’ if the boys were dating anyone, both Joe and Kevin had no comment about their dating lives even though it’s pretty known that they have girlfriends. 16-year old Nick admitted that he’s single though. That’s too bad. Oh well. He’s a pretty good looking guy. I’m pretty sure he will find himself a cute little girl to fall in love with again sooner or later.
Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are at it again! Barely weeks after Suri was seen getting uncomfortable in front of klieg lights and all the attention showered on her by the press and the people, they are again exposing the poor 2-year old to the limelight. The whole family including 14-year old Connor and the parents of Holmes were in the Walt Disney park apparently to introduce the kids especially Suri to Snow White and Cinderella. Suri, who wore a yellow dress much like Belle’s of Beauty and the Beast, sat on Katie’s lap the whole time they ate breakfast which included a fare of bacon, scrambled eggs, granola and French toast.
Suri had the time of her life when the characters stopped by their table to greet the Cruise family. Cruise was also seen hoisting Suri to the window to point out specific destinations in the Magic Kingdom. They looked like a regular family without any entourage but as expected, a family this famous could not really avoid the paparazzi. Katie Holmes and Suri went back to the theme park last Sunday while Tom Cruise and Connor bonded at the Daytona 500 where Tom Cruise met Keith Urban who is the new husband of his ex-wife Nicole Kidman.

Everybody’s still talking about the violent event that happened between Chris Brown and Rihanna. Almost everyone in Chris’ family is talking to the press about it, but there’s no word from the singer. No one even knows where he is. Rumors are going around that he’s actually in Las Vegas. It’s being reported that the alleged woman beater has taken to hiding at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. People from the hotel haven’t been able to confirm whether he is there or not but they did say that a few of Chris’ friends are currently rooming there. It’s not too hard to connect the dots after that piece of info leaked.
British pop songstress Sophie Ellis Bextor has become a mom for the second time. The singer was supposed to be due in April but I guess her new baby boy was just too excited as he was born nine weeks premature. Fortunately, both baby and mommy are as healthy as they could be. The new addition joins his older 4-year old brother Sonny, and father Richard Jones, the guitarist for The Feeling. Congratulations to the happy family. I wish the new baby great health. I wonder what they named him. I hope it’s not some weird name like most celebrities are prone to giving their kids.
“Dream Girls” Beyonce and Jennifer Hudson may have stopped dreaming when their film “Dream Girls” made it big both in the box office and the awards season. For sure, Oscar award winner Hudson has already outgrown daydreaming considering the stature she has achieved ion just a few years. But there’s another dream come true for both singers. Beyonce and Hudson won in the recent 40th National Association for the Advancement of Colored People or NAACP Awards held in Los Angeles.
Beyonce, who won in the Outstanding Female Artist category, sang “Halo” while Jennifer Hudson, who won in the Outstanding New Artist category and another one for Best Album, sang “The Impossible Dream” as a tribute to President’s Award recipient Muhammad Ali. Hudson, who was a big winner considering her recent Grammy win, said it is always an honor to come home where she came from. Couple Rihanna (who is competing against Beyonce) and boyfriend Chris Brown (who is competing against Jamie Foxx, John Legend and will.i.am for the male artist category) were a no show after last Sunday’s controversy.
British Prince Harry has been sent to take a course on diversity and equality by the British Army that after a video was seen wherein he uses offensive language to describe a Pakistani army personnel working in the British Army.
Harry called an army colleague – “our little Paki friend” and this description according to military officials in Britain is set to lower the popularity of the prince amongst ethnic Asians living in the UK. Also that such racially sensitive comment will diminish his reputation as a credible army officer.
It shows the concern of the British Army that royals need to learn that such comments hurt people of other communities and the diversity and equality will only make understand the extent of how offensive his remarks were.
Pakistanis are being targeted by people all over the world for crimes and terrorist activities that some people are carrying out as a revenge (that according to them) for US atrocities carried out in other parts of the world. I do not know what explanations such acts have.
It has been speculated that Rihanna will not be doing shows in Asia and it has been made official earlier this week that the Barbadian babe has postponed her Friday concert in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. A new date will be announced in the near future though. In a statement, the concert promoter said “We sincerely regret this unavoidable shift in schedule and apologize to the fans for any inconvenience caused.” I’m sure her Malaysian fans completely understand and just want her to get all better. I really hope she gets to move on quickly after this issue. She deserves so much better then Chris Brown.
