Michael Jackson’s children are doing fine, according to a close friend.

Mark Lester, who is the godfather of one of the pop legend’s sons, said he had spoken to the children since their father’s sudden death.

He said: “I can tell you that the kids are fine. They are being well looked after. It’s obviously a very difficult time and children grieve in different ways but no, they’re fine.”

Lester, who has been pals with Jackson for 30 years, said the family were doing what they could to be there for his three children Prince, 12, Paris, 11, and six-year-old Prince Michael I.

He said: “They’re devastated. They weren’t seeing each other every day but they have really rallied round together and you know, they’re supporting not only his memory but they’re being there for the kids.”

Former child actor Lester, 50, spoke of his shock at hearing claims that Jackson was taking painkillers and said he hated needles.

He said: “I never ever saw Michael even take an Aspirin. He used to drink mineral water, we used to eat fish and chips. He didn’t drink, and I’m just shocked. I never saw or had any indication that these things were happening.

“It’s just horrific.”

He added: “Michael hated needles. I did give him acupuncture once and that was the once and last time, he really didn’t like it.”

Lester said that Michael lived for his children and that was the main reason behind his decision to do a massive run of concerts.
