Contestants on the X-Factor must observe a Twitter ban.
As the show’s tension heightens, bosses of the X-Factor are concerned over tweets that give away show secrets.
The move follows similar attempts in Hollywood by some studios to clamp down on celebrity tweeting – and to write the requirement into acting contracts.
X-Factor contestants, meanwhile, will be allowed to post their tweets to an official X-Factor Twitter site. Some samples from the site include, Stacey Soloman (pictured): “I’m cooking sausage and mash mmm! Could be a disaster. So excited to see my costume!” and Danyl Johnson: “In the house watching telly and relaxing …”
Lloyd Daniels, meanwhile, wrote: “Hey everyone, can’t believe the time! Today’s flown past so quickly. Thinking of the amazing support. Thanks so much.”

This is becoming quite the popular move… either that, or it’s just that time of the social network’s life. Now Lily Allen has given up her twitter account, her last tweet saying: “I am a neo-luddite, goodbye.” Neo-luddism seems to be a belief that all technology is somehow bad for you. Apparently, Lily Allen also gave up MySpace, e-mail, her Macbook and so on. However, a source comes in with the following info: “Sam was fed up. He told Lily: ‘It’s me or Twitter.’ And she chose him.” Is Lily Allen just doing all of this for the show of it? But how will she battle music downloads now that she has no more internet? Or has she finally found a nobler purpose?
In addition to setting a Guinness World Record for selling 1.6 million tickets in one day for his 2009 ‘Close Encounters’ tour, British singer Robbie Williams also managed to set a world record earlier this week by having the most screenings of a live concert in theaters. The BBC’s live show ‘Electric Proms’ was broadcast simultaneously in venues all over the world in 23 countries. Extra screenings are planned in the coming weeks for countries a bit further from Robbie’s native England, including Australia and South Africa. He sure is a popular one. The world seems to have fallen in love all over again with him.
